• If the healing skin in incorrectly cared for it can prolong healing time and possibly lead to infection and scarring
• Hyper-pigmentation (darker areas of pigment on the skin associated with trauma) lasting for 1 to 12 months. (Can be treated with medicated bleaching creams) We recommend darker skin types prep the skin with a bleaching cream 4 weeks prior to treatment
• Possible herpes simplex outbreak if prone to cold sores in treatment area

The VIVA is designed to be performed in a course of treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Initially it is recommended you begin with 3-6 treatments, however deeper lines, scarring and other severe skin conditions will take more regular sessions which will be discussed with you during your consultation. The eye area responds well to 3-4 sessions.

• You will be prescribed a homecare regimen suited to your skin type
• Always use a broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 30-50+
• Cease use of any Retinol products 48 hours prior to the treatment

A single treatment last no longer than 30 minutes. The VIVA handpiece is passed over the area, a pickling sensation along with heat will be felt. A relief topical anesthesia (cream), which offers excellent pain relief may be applied to facial areas to limit discomfort.

NOTE: please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time for numbing cream to be applied.

Face:

• • Most patients will experience a mild sunburn like sensation that lasts 2 to 5 hours
  • Moderate redness with some swelling, immediately after and lasting up to 12 – 36 hours
  • Raised, red marks may be present and will fade shortly after

treatment.

We review the skin at 4 weeks after the recommended course has finished. This time frame allows us to assess the success of the treatment. Before and after photo’s are then compared and results discussed. It is at this stage a skin care and treatment maintenance program will be discussed with you.

After your results have been achieved with VIVA, treatments can be performed during the year to maintain the benefits.

For the next 3-5 days following treatment:

• Do not use products containing AHA’s, BHA’s, Vitamin A (Retinol), astringents or exfoliating granules
• Cool compress or ice as needed
• Apply moisturiser as required (skin is best to remain moist during this time)
• Do not exfoliate or pick at peeling skin
• Do not expose the skin to sun
• MUST apply a sunscreen daily
• Avoid vigorous exercise, saunas, chlorinated and salt water pools, steam baths and hot showers for 48 hours following your treatment
• Avoid waxing, IPL, Laser or depilatory creams for 2 weeks following your treatment
• Avoid make up for 12 hours post laser
• Avoid applying tanning products for 1+ weeks following your treatment

Home Care Products to use for the following 3 – 5 days

It is important to avoid the use of exfoliating products for the next 5-7 days. To avoid sun sensitivities it is important to apply a broad-spectrum sun block daily. We recommend the following regime:
