PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma – is a rejuvenation therapy which works by harnessing the power of the platelet rich plasma from your own blood, which is extracted and then re-injected under medical conditions. PRP activates stem cells in the skin, forming new tissue including muscles, nerves and elastin. PRP has a wide range of uses in cosmetic medicine, including hair loss and has been around from the 1970s. If your looking for face rejuvenation, lip regeneration, neck tightening or hair treatment, to name just a few PRP could be the treatment for you.

What is Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a facial rejuvenation alternative for clients seeking a more natural method. PRP promotes tissue regeneration by harnessing the healing properties of your own blood to restore volume and rejuvenate the skin.
PRP was developed in the 1970s and has developed into a popular treatment, often referred to by the media as the Vampire Facial.
At Academy Face and Body we use only “Emcyte Pure PRP” – the world-leading Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment. By using pure PRP, we can offer our clients the most concentrated platelet solution to restore natural volume and improve dull, tired and lax skin.
How do platelets stimulate tissue regeneration?
Platelets are cells within the blood that play the important role of tissue repair in the body by releasing growth factors. Platelets activate Stem Cells in the skin to form new tissue such as elastin, muscles, nerves and blood vessels to restore the structure of the skin.
Areas that often benefit from this treatment
Some areas that benefit from a Pure Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment may include:
Total face rejuvenation
Perioral lines (lines around the mouth)
Periorbital lines (lines around the eyes)
Hands and arm
The process – on the day
First You will be asked to arrive 30-45 minutes prior to your treatment, during which a numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and your blood is taken by one of the practice staff.
While the numbing cream is on, your blood is processed and the concentrated platelets (PRP) are extracted. The Pure PRP is then injected back into your areas of concern.
How many treatments will I need?
We normally recommend a course of 3 Pure PRP treatments, with 1 treatment every 4 weeks. A once-off maintenance treatment may be recommended at 6-12 months to maintain your desired results.
Pure PRP may also be recommended as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with other treatments such as CO2 or DOT Laser, skin needling and more.
When will I see results?
Most Pure PRP patients notice an improvement in skin hydration approximately 1 week after treatment. This provides an initial plumping result and further changes in volume and structure are normally noticed within 30 days however improvements continue for up to 90 days.
What’s the next step?
A consultation may be booked to discuss individual needs and desired results, and to assess the suitability of the procedure. It is at this point that the most suitable products to achieve desired results will be determined.
