Dr Oates is proud to be involved with the Hunger Project, Australia and share their vision to see a world where every woman, man and child leads a healthy, fulfilling life of self-reliance and dignity when solutions are created at a community level.
WHAT IS AN EPICENTRE?
An epicentre is a place where change is seeded in a meaningful way reaching all levels of the community. The epicentre provides leadership and training , houses a food bank where grains can be stored safely, a community bank from which microloans can be made to fund local projects and a child care centre.
WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?
Dr Oates, and his wife April who witnessed poverty first hand on her initial trip to Uganda in 2015, recently pledged to fundraise $200,000 towards the final phase of work at the Sanar Epicentre, in Senegal. The impact The Hunger Project have at grass roots level is incredible and the additional funds raised will continue leadership training and local governance to ensure ongoing reporting outcomes for at least two years.
