A mini face lift, also known as a S-lift, which is medically referred to as a rhytidectomy or meloplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to reposition skin and underlying muscle and tissue on the face. The name comes from the ‘S’ shaped incisions which are made in front of the ear as part of the procedure.

Dr Jayson Oates performs S-lift procedures at the government-licensed Academy Day Hospital, on-site at Academy Face and Body in Subiaco, Perth under twilight sedation.
Incisions are made to the front-of-ear creases in the 2-hour procedure, allowing the deeper layer of soft tissue to be tightened and elevated. Immediately after the procedure, sterile dressings are placed over the incisions and bandages are applied around the face and neck.
Patients are then discharged later that same day.
Following surgery, it is important for a patient to follow the comprehensive post-surgical instructions provided to them. Appointments are scheduled at regular intervals where post-operative care is provided and a patient’s recovery is monitored.
Patients can expect to experience mild bleeding from the incision line, pain and discomfort, swelling, bruising and numbness. If your swelling is higher, Dr Oates may recommend for the facial garment to be worn up to an extra week during sleep.
These symptoms are part of the normal healing process following a S-lift, however patients are advised to contact the practice if they become concerned or require further information.
