PROCEDURE
Venus VIVA RF (Radio Frequency) treatments are aimed at rejuvenating the skin, reducing signs of ageing, and improving skin texture. The procedure begins with a consultation to develops a personalised treatment plan.
The Venus VIVA RF procedure starts with a topical numbing cream is then applied to the area to minimise discomfort, which is usually left on for 20 to 30 minutes. Once the skin is numb, the anesthetic is removed, the Venus VIVA RF device is gently applied to the skin. This device is equipped with tiny pins that deliver NanoFractional RF energy, creating micro-dermal wounds that stimulate the body’s natural healing process, promoting collagen and elastin production.
During the healing phase, minor redness, swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation are common for a few days.
Typically, multiple sessions (usually three to four) are required to achieve optimal results, spaced about four to six weeks apart. Results are usually noticeable after the first session, with improvements continuing over the following months as collagen production increases. Maintenance treatments may be recommended every six to twelve months to sustain results.

*NB: Please inform your nurse or therapist if you have ever experienced or are prone to darkening of the skin post trauma or if you have ever experienced or are prone to cold sores.
- If the healing skin in incorrectly cared for it can prolong healing time and possibly lead to infection and scarring
- Hyper-pigmentation (darker areas of pigment on the skin associated with trauma) lasting for 1 to 12 months. (Can be treated with medicated bleaching creams) We recommend darker skin types prep the skin with a bleaching cream 4 weeks prior to treatment
- Possible herpes simplex outbreak if prone to cold sores in treatment area
- You will be prescribed a homecare regimen suited to your skin type
- Always use a broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 30-50+
- Cease use of any Retinol products 48 hours prior to the treatment
A single treatment last no longer than 30 minutes. The VIVA handpiece is passed over the area, a pickling sensation along with heat will be felt. A relief topical anesthesia (cream), which offers excellent pain relief may be applied to facial areas to limit discomfort.
NOTE: please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time for numbing cream to be applied.
Face:
- Most patients will experience a mild sunburn like sensation that lasts 2 to 5 hours
- Moderate redness with some swelling, immediately after and lasting up to 12 – 36 hours
- Raised, red marks may be present and will fade shortly aftertreatment.
- Skin will feel rough to the touch and will resolve in 1 week

VIVA Stretch Marks
We review the skin at 4 weeks after the recommended course has finished. This time frame allows us to assess the success of the treatment. Before and after photos are then compared and results discussed. It is at this stage a skin care and treatment maintenance program will be discussed with you.
After your results have been achieved with VIVA, treatments can be performed during the year to maintain the benefits.
For the next 3-5 days following treatment:
- Do not use products containing AHA’s, BHA’s, Vitamin A (Retinol), astringents or exfoliating granules
- Cool compress or ice as needed
- Apply moisturiser as required (skin is best to remain moist during this time)
- Do not exfoliate or pick at peeling skin
- Do not expose the skin to sun
- MUST apply a sunscreen daily
- Avoid vigorous exercise, saunas, chlorinated and salt water pools, steam baths and hot showers for 48 hours following your treatment
- Avoid waxing, IPL, Laser or depilatory creams for 2 weeks following your treatment
- Avoid make up for 12 hours post laser
- Avoid applying tanning products for 1+ weeks following your treatment
