The lip lift procedure accentuates your lip aesthetics and provides a rejuvenating effect by addressing age-related changes such as lip thinning and elongation.
Our lips’ size and shape are largely influenced by genetics, but various factors, including facial expressions like smiling and talking, can impact their appearance. The elongation can reduce the visibility of the upper teeth, further affecting the overall look of the lip region.
Lip lift surgery effectively addresses these concerns by shortening the upper lip skin and enhancing the red lip area. This outpatient procedure, performed conveniently in our hospital, delivers immediate improvements, making your lips appear fuller, more youthful, and proportionate to your facial features.
The procedure can be done on its own to rejuvenate and enhance your lips, or it can be combined with other facial treatments to achieve a more youthful appearance for the lower face.

Lip lift surgery is a cosmetic procedure aimed at shortening the distance between the upper lip and the nose, resulting in a more youthful and defined lip contour.
This surgical technique focuses on elevating the position of the upper lip, thereby increasing the visibility of the pink part of the lips (the vermilion) and creating a fuller, more attractive appearance.
One of the main benefits of lip lift surgery is its ability to provide a youthful appearance by reducing the length of the philtrum (the area between the nose and upper lip), which contributes to a rejuvenated look. The procedure enhances lip definition, creating a more pronounced cupid’s bow and fuller upper lip, contributing to a balanced facial profile.
Unlike temporary fillers, a lip lift provides permanent results, ensuring long-lasting improvement. Additionally, the surgery can improve the overall aesthetics of your smile by making the upper teeth more visible when smiling.

Lip lift surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia with or without sedation, ensuring a comfortable experience. The most common techniques include:
Direct Lip Lift: A small strip of skin is removed just above the upper lip, and the remaining skin is lifted to achieve the desired effect.
Subnasal or Bullhorn Lip Lift: An incision is made along the base of the nose, shaped like a bullhorn, to lift the central part of the upper lip.
Dr Oates performs facelift procedures at the government-licensed Academy Day Hospital, on-site at Academy Face and Body in Subiaco, Perth under twilight sedation.
Incisions are usually made in the crease at the base of the nose or inside the nostrils to reduce visibility.
No bandages will be applied to the face after the procedure but an antibiotic ointment is prescribed to be applied on the incision.
Patients are then discharged later that same day.

Following surgery, it is important for a patient to follow the comprehensive post-surgical instructions provided to them. Appointments are scheduled at regular intervals where post-operative care is provided and a patient’s recovery is monitored.
For the first week after your lip lift surgery, it’s advisable to avoid excessive talking, chewing or smiling to accelerate the healing process. It is also recommended to stick to a mostly liquid diet that includes soups and smoothies to prevent any unnecessary mouth movements. Patients should refrain from biting into and chewing any hard foods for at least a month after their procedure.
A lip lift is generally considered a less invasive procedure. Patients can expect some mild bruising and swelling after their lip lift procedure and any stitches can generally be removed after a week. Dr Oates generally recommends 7-10 days off of work. This will vary from patient to patient, and will also depend on the level of physicality required in their work.
All cosmetic surgery, including lip lift surgery, is invasive and carries risks.
