PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy, often referred to as the “vampire facial,” is a popular skin treatment that uses the regenerative potential of your own blood to promote healing, renewal and skin rejuvenation.
By extracting a concentrated dose of platelet-rich plasma and re-injecting it under sterile medical conditions, PRP stimulates the activation of stem cells in the skin, fostering the growth of new tissue, including muscles, nerves, and elastin.
This innovative approach, which has been utilised since the 1970s, offers a versatile solution in cosmetic medicine, addressing a variety of concerns from hair loss to facial rejuvenation, lip regeneration, and neck tightening.
If you are seeking an effective treatment for these issues, PRP therapy could be the ideal choice for revitalising your appearance.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a revolutionary skin treatment that leverages the body’s natural healing processes to rejuvenate and revitalise the skin.
This innovative technique involves drawing a small amount of the patient’s blood, which is then spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and plasma. Platelets, known for their role in clotting, are also rich in growth factors that can stimulate cellular repair and regeneration.
When this concentrated PRP solution is injected or applied to the skin, it promotes collagen production, enhances skin elasticity, and improves overall texture and tone.
PRP is particularly effective in treating fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and even hair loss, offering a natural alternative to more invasive cosmetic procedures.
Initial results can be seen within a few weeks, with full benefits typically appearing over a few months as collagen production increases and the skin heals and rejuvenates.

This PRP, rich in growth factors, is then either injected into specific skin areas or applied topically with microneedling to penetrate deeper and stimulate collagen production. Multiple sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, may be recommended for optimal results.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a facial rejuvenation alternative for clients seeking a more natural method. PRP promotes tissue regeneration by harnessing the healing properties of your own blood to restore volume and rejuvenate the skin.
PRP was developed in the 1970s and has developed into a popular treatment, often referred to by the media as the Vampire Facial.
At Academy Face and Body we use only “Emcyte Pure PRP” – the world-leading Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment. By using pure PRP, we can offer our clients the most concentrated platelet solution to restore natural volume and improve dull, tired and lax skin.
Platelets are cells within the blood that play the important role of tissue repair in the body by releasing growth factors. Platelets activate Stem Cells in the skin to form new tissue such as elastin, muscles, nerves and blood vessels to restore the structure of the skin.
Some areas that benefit from a Pure Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment may include:
First You will be asked to arrive 30-45 minutes prior to your treatment, during which a numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and your blood is taken by one of the practice staff.
While the numbing cream is on, your blood is processed and the concentrated platelets (PRP) are extracted. The Pure PRP is then injected back into your areas of concern.
We normally recommend a course of 3 Pure PRP treatments, with 1 treatment every 4 weeks. A once-off maintenance treatment may be recommended at 6-12 months to maintain your desired results.
Pure PRP may also be recommended as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with other treatments such as CO2 or DOT Laser, skin needling and more.
Most Pure PRP patients notice an improvement in skin hydration approximately 1 week after treatment. This provides an initial plumping result and further changes in volume and structure are normally noticed within 30 days however improvements continue for up to 90 days.
