Liposuction, also known as lipectomy or lipoplasty is a specialised surgical procedure aimed at reducing and removing subcutaneous adipose tissue (fat) from various parts of the body. This cosmetic surgery can help you achieve a more sculpted and toned appearance by targeting stubborn fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise.
This technique enhances body contouring by specifically targeting and removing fat deposits. Common areas for treatment include the abdomen, waist, hips, bra strap region, thighs, buttocks, arms, chin, and jowls. Additionally, liposuction can be employed to treat Lipedema.
Liposuction involves the use of a suction technique to precisely remove excess fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, hips, arms, and even under the chin. This procedure is tailored to enhance the body contours and improve your overall silhouette.

Performed by experienced and board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr Oates, liposuction typically involves small incisions through which a thin tube (cannula) is inserted. The cannula is used to loosen fat deposits, which are then suctioned out of the body. Depending on the extent of the procedure, it can be done under local or general anesthesia.
The benefits of liposuction are numerous. It offers precision fat removal, targeting and removing fat from specific areas for improved body contours and a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing body shape. The procedure can significantly boost your confidence, allowing you to feel more comfortable and assured in your skin. Modern liposuction techniques ensure minimal scarring and quicker recovery times, making the process even more appealing.
Ideal candidates for liposuction are individuals who are within 30% of their ideal weight, have firm, elastic skin, and are in good overall health. It is important to have realistic expectations and understand that liposuction is not a weight-loss solution but a way to contour and enhance your body shape.
Recovery time varies depending on the extent of the procedure and individual factors. Most patients can return to normal activities within a few days and resume strenuous exercise after a few weeks. The final results of liposuction become apparent as the body heals and swelling subsides, revealing a more sculpted and refined appearance.
*Individuals with poor skin elasticity, underlying health conditions, obesity, or unrealistic expectations are not suitable candidates for liposuction.
Targeted Fat Reduction
Liposuction allows for precise removal of fat deposits in specific areas such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, arms, and chin.
Immediate and Noticeable Results
Liposuction delivers immediate results. Post-procedure, you’ll notice a significant difference in the treated areas, which continues to improve as swelling subsides.
Enhanced Confidence and Self-Esteem
A balanced body can greatly enhance your self-image and confidence. Feeling good about your appearance can positively impact various aspects of your life.
Permanent Fat Removal
Liposuction permanently removes fat cells from the treated areas. As long as you maintain a stable weight, the results can be long-lasting, providing a lasting solution to stubborn fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise.
Health Benefits
Beyond aesthetic improvements, liposuction can also offer health benefits. Reducing excess fat can alleviate strain on your body, potentially improving your overall health and reducing the risk of obesity-related conditions.
Ideal candidates for a Liposuction are healthy individuals without underlying medical conditions that could interfere with healing. A positive mindset and realistic expectations are also key to achieving satisfying results.
Liposuction is not a replacement for weight loss or a healthy lifestyle. Instead, it is a cosmetic procedure designed to reshape the body by removing localised pockets of fat that are resistant to exercise and diet.
The ideal candidates for liposuction typically have the following characteristics:
**Results may vary from person to person
Liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that targets and removes stubborn fat that is resistant to diet and exercise. It is commonly performed on areas such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms, back, and neck. By precisely sculpting these areas, liposuction can help you achieve a contoured, more proportionate figure.
Dr Jason Oates uses advanced liposuction techniques to ensure optimal results with minimal downtime. During the procedure, small incisions are made in the targeted areas, and a thin tube called a cannula is inserted. The cannula is used to loosen excess fat, which is then suctioned out of the body.
Post-procedure, patients can expect some swelling and bruising, which typically subsides within a few weeks. Most individuals can return to work and normal activities within a few days to a week, depending on the extent of the procedure. Final results become apparent after a few months, revealing a firmer, more sculpted appearance.

Most patients notice that the skin over the liposculpture area can go quite numb, and then over a period of weeks can feel a little strange as the nerves recover. These symptoms are part of the normal healing process following , however patients are advised to contact the practice if they become concerned or require further information.
It is important that you stay mobile to reduce swelling and the risk of developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis).
