Traditional C02 Laser improves on the condition of the skin for even tone, texture, and appearance.
Traditional C02 Laser targets skin issues like wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, and uneven pigmentation. Through the ablation of the outer skin layers, the laser initiates collagen production that causes the skin to become smoother and tighter.
C02 traditional procedures often result in some healing time, which is the period when the skin tissues are healing after the process takes place during this time.
Despite the longer recovery time associated with traditional C02 laser treatments, many patients find the results to be worth the temporary inconvenience. The skin often appears smoother, firmer, and more youthful following treatment, with continued improvements in texture and tone over the following months as collagen remodeling continues.

Traditional CO2 Laser is the type of skin rejuvenation that uses carbon dioxide laser to deal with various skin issues. These lasers deliver a beam of light that interacts with the water molecules within the skin cells, and for this reason, the targeted tissue is evaporated. The main purpose of Traditional C02 Laser treatments is to beautify the skin by improving its texture.
Traditional CO2 laser procedures are a well-known method for treating signs of ageing including wrinkles, fine lines, and loose skin. The laser’s ability to stimulate collagen production by the skin helps to tighten and firm the skin, resulting in a more youthful complexion. However, these treatments not only can decrease the sun damage, age spots, and uneven pigmentation but also results in a more even and luminous complexion appearance.
Traditional CO2 laser therapy is also used in treating scars which consist of acne scars and surgical scars. By laser specifically targeting the scar tissue the new cells of healthy skin are stimulated gradually diminishing the appearance of scars with time.
This treatment takes more time for recovery in comparison with that of the other non-ablative laser treatments. The skin can be observed as red, swollen, and sensitive after the treatment, which is when following the post-treatment care instructions well is critical for proper healing and best results.
Traditional carbon dioxide (CO2) laser treatments, in addition, is considered a standout option where skin structure and texture can be improved.
Wrinkle Reduction
The process of C02 lasers’ stimulation of collagen production results in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, making the skin more even and younger looking.
Scar Improvement
Through resurfacing the skin and promoting the new tissue growth, C02 lasers can be effective in eliminating various types of scars such as acne, surgical, or injury scars.
Sun Damage
C02 lasers treat sunspots, pigmentation irregularities, and sundamaged skin, thereby improving skin tone and texture.
Skin Tightening
Through collagen and elastin production, C02 laser can tighten loose or sagging skin, mostly in face, neck, and décolletage areas.
Precise Treatment
The C02 lasers can be adjusted to different levels of intensity for targeting specific skin concerns without affecting healthy skin tissues.
Traditional CO2 laser treatments are primarily for individuals seeking skin rejuvenation and improvement in various skin concerns. These treatments are especially beneficial for individuals with:

The C02 laser treatment is one of the most frequently performed procedures to tackle different skin problems which include wrinkles, scars, age spots, and pigmentation. Generally, it’s done under twilight sedation, which means that the patient remains comfortable.
In the CO2 laser treatment, a handpiece with a laser, which is placed on the exact indication area of the skin, is used. The tool is kept in place for the exact time needed to release energy in a very targeted manner. The process is then repeated for the remaining areas and then the next areas are done.
Patients can experience heat during the procedure. Immediately post there will be excessive swelling, visible discolouration, for some, the feeling of heat and possible inability to talk freely due to the local anaesthetic and feeling of numbness around the mouth.
The area treated will have Petroleum Jelly applied and the patient is then discharged later that same day. It’s essential to abide by the post-care treatment guidelines provided by Dr Oates in order to achieve results and fast recovery.

THE RESULTS
Traditional C02 laser treatment can effectively treat wrinkles, scars, and skin imperfections. It stimulates collagen production, leading to smoother, rejuvenated skin with reduced signs of ageing.
OUR PROCESS
Treatment involves numbing the area, applying the laser to remove layers of skin or tissue, and allowing for healing and skin regeneration over several days to weeks.
Dr Oates performs DOT Laser at government-licensed Academy Day Hospital, on-site at Academy Face and Body in Subiaco, Perth under local anaesthetic and or twilight sedation.
The laser hand piece is placed over the skin that’s being treated and held in that position before it’s moved to the next area for the same action. Due to the individual requirements of each patient, many variations can be performed with the same laser device. This means patients experiences, including timelines, can also differ. Patients can experience heat during the procedure. Immediately post patients can experience tightness, swelling, discolouration, stinging and for some, the possible inability to talk freely due to the local anaesthetic and feeling of numbness around the mouth. There may also be an increased feeling of heat following the procedure. The area treated will have Petroleum Jelly applied and the patient is then discharged later that same day from Academy Day Hospital.
Following CO2 Laser, it is important for a patient to follow the comprehensive post-surgical instructions provided to them. Appointments are scheduled at regular intervals where post-operative care is provided and a patient’s recovery is monitored.
Patients will experience frequent swelling and heightened discolouration. Patients will be provided with instructions to cleanse, perform vinegar and water soaks and re apply Patroleum Jelly as part of their home care. The skin may ooze and there may be crusting or scabbing. White or brown dots may be visible. Makeup may be able to be worn at approximately 2 weeks post procedure. These symptoms are part of the normal healing process following CO2 Laser, however patients are advised to contact the practice if they become concerned or require further information.
Majority CO2 Laser patients may become itchy which is generally more prevalent at night time. At approximately 2 weeks and 3 weeks post CO2 Laser, patients will see the visible discolouration fading and improvements in the skin. Patients can experience pinkness in the skin for months following the procedure. Skin post CO2 Laser can continue to tighten for over 12 months.
Dr Oates generally recommends a minimum of three weeks off of work. This will vary from patient to patient.
