DOT Fractional Laser is an advanced device. It emits rapid light pulses to penetrate the skin’s surface.
The process involves micro-beams creating precise “dots” that target specific areas, leaving surrounding skin untouched. This technique triggers the skin’s natural repair mechanisms. As it heals, the skin becomes smoother, firmer, and revitalised.
DOT Fractional Laser effectively addresses various skin concerns. These include fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, acne scarring, and uneven texture.
Dr Oates has extensive experience with this technology. For over 25 years in Perth, he has skillfully performed DOT Fractional Laser treatments. His expertise ensures safe and effective results for patients seeking skin rejuvenation.
Dr Jason Oates has been performing facial plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery procedures in Perth for 25 years. After specialising as an Otolaryngologist (Head and Neck Surgeon) in 1999, Dr Oates completed further training internationally (UK and USA) to gain experience and further expand his knowledge, skill and technique in facial plastic surgery.
Undergoing a surgical procedure is a serious decision, and requires careful consideration. DOT Fractional Laser a skin rejuvenating treatment that uses the highest standards of laser technology to improve skin texture, wrinkles and more. Unlike the traditional laser treatment that covers the whole skin area,
During this procedure, the target area with the laser energy releasing itself in small pulses via specialised equipment to the skin. This mini-beam transfers energy microscopic channels, called Micro-Thermal Zones (MTZs), that is, for the intact surrounding tissue.
This focal point laser treatment works via the creation of tiny, equidistant micro-lesions in the skin. This is a controlled resurfacing action where the laser targets water in the skin, destroying skin cells and prompting their repair throughout the recovery process.
This multi-fractionated approach speeds up the healing timeline and shortens the post-procedure downtime compared to continuous single fractional lasers.
The DOT fractional laser system is what is known as a multipurpose laser because of its incredible versatility. It can appropriately address a wide variety of skin problems like fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, uneven tone of skin and sunburnt skin.
Gradual results are achieved over the span of a few weeks, and skin continues to improve as new collagen is produced by the body’s natural processes, leading to skin surfaces that are smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking.
It is important to have a consultation to check if DOT Fractional Laser is appropriate for your skin type and the issues you need to correct.
Skin Rejuvenation
DOT Fractional Laser stimulates collagen production leading to a rejuvenated appearance, reducing fine lines, wrinkles and improved texture.
Scar Reduction
Helps diminish the appearance of scars, including acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks.
Sun Damage Repair
Effectively target and eliminate pigmentations, restoring a more youthful and uniform complexion.
Reduced Pore Size
Helps minimise pore size by stimulating collagen remodeling, resulting in a refined and more uniform skin surface.
Treatment of Skin Lesions
Lesions of benign skin structure like seborrheic keratosis and actinic keratosis.
Skin Tightening
As collagen production is stimulated, the skin becomes tighter and firmer. Beneficial for individuals experiencing mild to moderate skin laxity, such as in the jawline or neck area.
DOT Fractional Laser is a skin rejuvenation treatment ideal for individuals seeking targeted improvement in skin texture, tone, and appearance. This advanced laser technology is particularly beneficial for those dealing with common skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars, and uneven pigmentation. Indicated for:
**Results may vary from person to person
The treatment uses a specific laser which is aimed at spot locations, without affecting the skin around them. This fractional approach stimulates the body’s own healing mechanism which induces collagen synthesis and tissue regeneration.
A comprehensive evaluation is conducted to assess the patient’s skin type, concerns and desired results. A numbing cream can be applied for comfort.
With adjustable power and laser penetration depth, the treatment can be tailored to the individual case to address fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin tone, and sun damage. The procedure is mostly done within 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the case size and the degree of correction.
In the days and weeks to come, the skin goes through a regenerative process where new collagen is formed. This eventually leads to smoother, firmer, and a more youthful-looking skin. Several sessions will be recommended to ensure the best results. Most patients report a gradual improvement in texture and tone over several months.
WHAT IS IT?
DOT fractional laser treatment is a skin rejuvenation procedure that uses tiny, evenly spaced laser pulses to target small areas of skin, promoting collagen production and improving skin texture, tone, and appearance.
FOR WHO?
DOT fractional laser treatment is for people looking to improve skin texture, reduce wrinkles, acne scars, and sun damage, with minimal downtime.
THE RESULTS
DOT fractional laser treatment improves skin texture, reduce wrinkles, scars, and pigmentation. It promotes collagen production for a smoother, more youthful appearance.
OUR PROCESS
DOT fractional laser treatment involves numbing the skin, applying laser pulses to targeted areas, creating micro-injuries to stimulate collagen production and skin renewal, followed by post-care with moisturisers and sun protection.
Dr Oates performs DOT Laser at government-licensed Academy Day Hospital, on-site at Academy Face and Body in Subiaco, Perth under local anaesthetic and or twilight sedation.
The laser hand piece is placed over the skin that’s being treated and held in that position before it’s moved to the next area for the same action. Due to the individual requirements of each patient, many variations can be performed with the same laser device. This means patients experiences, including timelines, can also differ. Patients can experience heat during the procedure. Immediately post patients can experience tightness, swelling, discolouration, stinging and for some, the possible inability to talk freely due to the local anaesthetic and feeling of numbness around the mouth. There may also be an increased feeling of heat following the procedure. The area treated will have Petroleum Jelly applied and the patient is then discharged later that same day from Academy Day Hospital.
Following DOT Laser, it is important for a patient to follow the comprehensive post-surgical instructions provided to them. Appointments are scheduled at regular intervals where post-operative care is provided and a patient’s recovery is monitored.
Patients will experience swelling, discolouration including dry dots or brown skin. Patients will be provided with instructions to cleanse, perform vinegar and water soaks and re apply Patroleum Jelly as part of their home care. The skin may ooze and there may be crusting or scabbing. Patients may experience an itch during the healing period. Makeup may be able to be worn at approximately 2 weeks post procedure. These symptoms are part of the normal healing process following DOT Laser, however patients are advised to contact the practice if they become concerned or require further information.
At approximately 2 weeks and 3 weeks post DOT Laser, patients will see the visible discolouration fading and improvements in the skin. Patients can experience pinkness in the skin for months following the procedure. Skin post DOT Laser can continue to tighten for over 12 months.
Dr Oates generally recommends a minimum of three weeks off of work. This will vary from patient to patient.
