WHAT IS VASCULAR LASER?
Nd:YAG lasers can target small, superficial blood vessels like spider veins on the legs or face. These lasers emit light that is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood, causing the blood vessel to coagulate and eventually be absorbed by the body.

The Deka SynchroPlay is a long pulsed Nd:YAG Laser. It has been specifically designed to treat vascular lesions without affecting the melanin in the upper regions of the skin. This means a more effective outcome as the laser is solely absorbed by the blood in the affective area with less chance of trauma to the surrounding skin. The lesion is slowly heated by the laser resulting in coagulation and destruction of the cells. Your body’s lymphatic system is responsible for removing those cells over the following months.
The majority of patients require 2-3 vascular laser sessions in their concern area. In some cases clients may require more sessions or require IPL PR sessions to improve smaller/finer vessels.
- Avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks prior to treatment
- There must not be any fake tan present in the area to be treated
Potential complications although rare can occur and include the following.
- Prolonged redness
- Hemosiderin staining, this is the iron leaking out of the cells. Usually it goes away on its own and can take up to 12 months.
- Scarring. If the affected area isn’t looked after correctly i.e. blister is picked this may result in a permanent scar
- Unsuccessful treatment.
- Redness and/ or warmth lasting a few hours to 3-4 days or more
- Transient darkening of pigment and/or vascular lesions
- Peeling, flaking, crusting that may be red or brown
- Roughness
- Mild bruising (purpura) and/ or petechia (in the case of laser)
- Swelling and/ or hives
- Vesicles and/ or blistering
- Hair reduction
- Hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation which may or may not resolve
If you are experiencing excessive swelling please consult your Dermal Therapist.
- Do not exfoliate or pick at peeling skin
- Do not use products containing AHA’s, BHA’s, Vitamin A (Retinol), astringents or exfoliating granules
- Cool compress or ice as needed
- Do not expose the skin to sun
- MUST apply a sunscreen daily
- Apply moisturiser as required (skin is best to remain moist during this time)
- Avoid vigorous exercise, saunas, chlorinated and salt water pools, steam baths and hot showers for 48 hours following your treatment
- Avoid wrinkle relaxers and/or wrinkle fillers for 2 weeks following your treatment
- Avoid waxing, IPL, Laser or depilatory creams for 2 weeks following your treatment
- Avoid applying tanning products for 2 weeks following your treatment
